About Our Restaurant

The Tack Room Bar & Restaurant is a small town local steak house and full bar located in the heart of Penn Valley, Ca., which is just west of Grass Valley and Nevada City. The Tack Room has a long history here in Penn Valley. The building was built in 1964 and opened in 1965 by a man named Tex and has passed through a few owners throughout the years. The current owner’s Al and Barbara Martinez have owned the Tack Room since 1993. 

The owners take great pride in being the “local place” for dinner and hang time at the bar. Great food, great service, great company and leaving full is what you can expect when visiting Tack Room. There is a wonderful community of locals that frequent Tack Room so you are sure to have a good time with some good conversations.
